The Principle of Evil Made Flesh

01 - Darkness Our Bride (Jugular Wedding)

02 - The Forest Whispers My Name

03 - The Black Goddess Rises

04 - A Crescendo Of Passion Bleeding

05 - To Eve The Art Of Witchcraft

06 - Of Mist And Midnight Skies

07 - A Dream Of Wolves In The Snow

08 - Summer Dying Fast

Cradle of Filth's first album, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, is an excellent album and brought them some notoriety on the Black Metal scene. Many of the tracks are 'raw' Black Metal songs, a must for true Cradle of Filth fans. However, this album is scarcely suitable as an introduction to the band.

05 - She Mourns A Lengthening Shadow

06 - The Rape And Ruin Of Angels (Hosannas In Extremis)

Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein is a good second album. The band's coordination and skill has improved much, and the quality of the music reflects this. There is also a noted change of style, something more in the direction of Dusk....and Her Embrace.

Dusk...and Her Embrace

6. Dusk and Her Embrace

7. The Graveyard by Moonlight

8. Beauty Slept in Sodom

9. Haunted Shores

Dusk...and Her Embrace was my introductory album to Cradle of Filth, and it will always be my favorite. There is not a single mediocre track on the entire album. The music is heavier than on their earlier albums, the rhythm slower. On this album they really capture the theme, Vampires, and the music is more like Gothic Metal than Black Metal with a twist.

09 - Portrait Of The Dead Countess

10 - Lustmord And Wargasm (The Lick of Carnivorous Winds)

Cradle of Filth's most recent album, Cruelty And The Beast, shows clearly how the band is steadily improving. The theme of this album is Elizabeth Bathory, a Hungarian Countess who bathed in the blood of virgins. The music remains excellent, although the drummer, Nicholas, fails to perform as well as could be expected. This album is great, but somehow it lacks something the earlier albums had, a certain 'rawness'. The music can hardly be classified as Black Metal anymore.
